Overview

CRJ is a unique, 140 year nonprofit organization that is headquartered in Boston that provides direct care as well as research/consulting services within the areas of the Mental Health and the Criminal Justice field. Our three divisions, Social Justice Services, Community Strategies, and the Crime and Justice Institute are recognized for their effectiveness and contributions to this important work.

Within Social Justice Services (SJS) we support men and women leaving incarceration and young adults with complex clinical needs to make positive, and sustainable life transitions. SJS provides residential and non-residential services and programming in addition to staff development opportunities for our workforce. As we aim on expanding our workforce as well as services to our clients we are hiring a Meaningful Day Coordinator (MDC) in our Sargent House program which is located in the South End of Boston.

Responsibilities

The Meaningful Day Coordinator (MDC) is responsible for providing support services to nine individuals ages 18 to 22 residing in a nine-bed community home who exhibit challenging behaviors due to trauma-based diagnoses, sexually abusive behavior, cognitive disabilities, and/or intellectual challenges. This MDC will report directly to the Program Director and implement all the acitivies of daily living (ADL's), individual service plans (ISP's) for our clients.

The MDC will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Plan and involve ourclients in social/recreational activities within their communities.
  • Promote a high quality of living in all areas, including medication administration, meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and leisure and recreation.
  • Provide transportation of individuals to any scheduled appointments and/or social activities.
  • Record progress notes for each individual daily.
  • Ensure daily schedules are being followed and filled out by staff on all shifts

  • Focus on vocational development and procurement of jobs when possible.
  • Attend monthly Sargent House staff meetings and participate in developing individual plans
  • Model appropriate behaviors and reactions for individuals residing in program



Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation that can accommodate individuals safely to their destination
  • At least 1 year of human services experience preferred, but not required
  • Must pass a CORI, Federal, and drivers check

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Preferred:

  • Ability to work in an intimate home setting.
  • Medication Administration (MAP), Certification in CPR and First Aid, CPI Restraints Training
