Hydroid employees are passionate about their work and strive to produce top-quality products and service. Our products are designed and manufactured at either our Pocasset, MA or Lynnwood, WA facilities. This position would be based out of the Lynnwood, WA facility.

Responsibilities

Support the commercialization of an academic research organization's AUV Technical Data Package (TDP) on a multidisciplinary team.

  • Participate in the build-up of an AUV engineering development/qualification unit.
  • Review and evaluate the drawing package to improve the design for manufacturability, for assembly, for cost, and for reliability.
  • Update part and assembly CAD models as needed to reflect improvements.
  • Author engineering documentation as needed for the mechanical elements of the TDP.
  • Work with vendors as needed to fabricate updated parts and develop processes.
  • Perform various mechanical analyses on the design to verify robustness, suitability, and conformance to requirements.
  • Participate in engineering testing of components and subsystems for confidence and reliability.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering in developing the manufacturing processes for the system and subsystems.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering.
  • five or more years related experience and/or training for mid level mechanical role, 10 or more years related experience and/training for the senior mechancial role.
  • Good understanding of materials, material properties, and material behaviors.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using SolidWorks 3D modeling tools.
  • Ability to work well in a relatively unstructured engineering environment.
  • The ideal candidate is an individual who can work well in a collaborative, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, has high attention to detail, possesses excellent problem-solving skills, , and has an enthusiastic attitude.


A condition of this position will require the successful Applicant to pass a government security investigation and must subsequently receive authorization to access US Department of Defense Controlled Unclassified Information ("CUI") and potentially classified information.
