Play a leading role in the preparation of written basin and play insights for the Basin Insights Service and more broadly the Plays & Basins Capability within the Energy Insight Upstream business. The primary requirement is for abilities, skills and tasks include written basin and play analysis which cover supply and E&P spend projections, understanding of conventional and unconventional plays, activities and challenges.

The critical capability is the ability to articulate (written) forward looking analysis and conclusions in and for the international E&P arena.

Contribute to overall Upstream Plays & Basins analysis of the global E&P industry including market trends, the competitive environment and the strategy, basin and play competitiveness, competitive landscaping and leading indicators for same.

Work closely with other members of the Upstream Plays & Basins team to manage and grow the practice and deliver strong financial results as well as integrate with other dimensions across the Upstream business group. 

The position calls for a highly experienced, senior writer who is conversant with the upstream industry and the energy sector overall.   The successful candidate will work closely with senior and junior members of the Global Plays and Basins team to develop analysis from the drawing board to a final published product.  He or she will improve quality, accelerate the production timetable and boost the overall number of high quality, insightful, forward looking deliverables.

Knowledge and Skills 

  • University level degrees in Communications, English, Journalism and other related subjects
  • At least 10 to 15 years working experience in the energy sector, journalism, energy consulting and or related.
  • Must be articulate, with strong writing and editing skills
  • Analytical, and able to see the big picture and draw conclusions by synthesizing and articulating written descriptions of current and future trends, including have a sense of the commercial and strategic aspects of the global upstream business and an ability to describe same.
  • Able to work in teams across offices and with members in other practices in a cooperative and efficient manner.
  • Able to mentor and train staff in improving writing and editing skills and approach work in a collaborative manner.
  • Required skill(s): Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Able to work in a multicultural setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are critical to this position
  • Required language(s):  English (Outstanding writing skills in international business English).  International languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Chinese and/or Russian are a major plus

Experience & Education

• Minimum of 10 to 15 years of related experience required

Education and Certifications

 • University degree (Bachelors or equivalent) in the Arts or Social Sciences.
