POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for the cost effective utilization of manpower and capital resources required to operate a group of manufacturing departments.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the production activity within the assigned manufacturing departments to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity objectives on a daily basis.
  • Accomplish objectives by communicating job expectations to employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; Hold direct reports accountable for their performance; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of cost reduction and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement and 6S activities for assigned manufacturing departments.
  • Prepare reports and be prepared to discuss with management the status of departmental and/ or individual metrics, workload and current projects.
  • Prepare detailed work instructions per ISO standards.
  • Schedule the repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment as required.
  • Assist engineering in the development of new products and processes.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and address Human Resource issues on a timely basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for ordering any supported material necessary for production.

 

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY: This job has supervisory responsibility over assembly, painting, spares parts packaging, and variety of other sub-departments.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Must at least 3-5 years of experience managing people in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications and manuals.
  • Excellent supervisory skills; must be able to plan, organize and schedule work among employees; prepare and evaluate department records and reports;  communicate effectively with employees, management staff and all other departments, as necessary.
  • Experienced facilitator and proven track record of Lean/6S implementation.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity of working within an ISO regulated requirement is preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a dynamic environment while maintaining a positive attitude and energy.
  • Strong team player, good work ethic and ability to be flexible and work within a collaborative team environment to meet production and company needs.
  • Must have the desire and ability to work in a participative style in order to meet goals and objectives
  • Familiarity with precision shop inspection tools and gages is preferred.
