Job Description

General Description

This is a management level position responsible for the planning, implantation, supervision, and administration of the Healthy Families Program. The program is a child abuse prevention program that provides assessment of new mothers at the hospital and on-going home-based services to eligible families. This position also requires oversight of programming outside of Healthy Families.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Plans, coordinates, and directs all activities of the Healthy Families Program

Provides support to staff and participates in daily activities essential to the completion of program objectives, including but not limited to, family assessment, home-based intervention, referrals, coordination, assessment and evaluation

Interviews, hires, supervises and evaluates performance of supervisors across SE AZ

Serves as a part of agency management team and performs duties related to that assignment

Responsible for data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting requirements for the program

Responsible for program budget management

Coordinates program activities with hospitals, Child Protective Services, community-based agencies and the public

Attends and participates in all required DCS and FTF meetings and training opportunities

Prepares presentations and provides community information relevant to the program, and conducts community relations activities

Assist in the research and grant writing to secure additional program funding.

Develops and works with Community Advisory Board.

Responsible for organizational Continuous Quality Improvement activities. 


Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling and/or related field preferred

Two years supervisory experience

Experience in supervision with excellent reflective capacity.

Knowledge in child abuse prevention techniques.

Knowledge of community and existing community prevention efforts.

Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural differences.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Experience in working with at-risk child and their families.

Grant writing abilities preferred.

Bilingual skills desirable.

Adheres to agency policies & procedures

Meets department performance/productivity standards

Must be eligible and able to obtain a fingerprint card.

Must be certified in CPR/First Aid

Must have valid driver's license, insurance and vehicle.

Ability Requirements

• Office and client home based work with frequent sitting, standing, writing and computer usage.
• Must be able to climb stairs and move through a facility and a home.
• Moderate reaching, bending, stooping kneeling or crouching.
• The position includes interaction with children that could include picking up a child as heavy as 40 pounds.

The nature of the position involves a fast paced working environment with multitasking of many different duties and tasks. General daily priorities may change at a moments notice and the position requires quick response time and flexibility.
