Job Description
As a Real-time Defect Analysis (RDA) Excursion Control Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc. in Manassas, VA, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and escalating potential inline defect-driven issues. You must be able to multitask and provide high quality data in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. 

Responsibilities and Tasks
 
Identify Potential Inline, Defect-Related Excursions 

  • Proactively utilize existing detection/priority systems to identify new defect events
  • Lead and/or support the innovation, development, and deployment of new identification tools

 
Analyze and Source Potential Inline, Defect-Related Excursions 

  • Understand when and how to utilize different data analysis tools, statistical analysis packages, and problem solving skills to source defect events based on respective event details
  • Perform in-depth data mining for tool/process correlations
  • Develop methods to enhance and improve signal-to-noise in data analysis
  • Demonstrate, develop, and utilize process flow and tool knowledge to determine defect/map signature formation and mechanism
  • Lead and/or support the innovation, development, and deployment of new analysis tools

 

Escalate and Contain Potential Inline, Defect-Related Excursions 

  • Compile documentation of all relevant information and data into a concise and coherent flow for customers and area counterparts to understand the issue at hand and its sequence of events
  • Inform, communicate, and exchange information with suspect process areas of deviated material
  • Support containment of all defect excursions with area counterparts including, but not limited to, Product Integration Engineering (PIE), Process and Equipment Engineering (PEE), and Quality teams
  • Provide, document, and own additional updates of excursion events until closure per business process

 
Serve as Area Tactical Expert 

  • Be aware of all current excursions and associated actions
  • Provide expertise and consultation to PIE/PEE/Quality team counterparts regarding all escalated, tactical RDA excursion events
  • Conduct cross-functional focus meetings with PIE/PEE/Quality counterparts to resolve and contain excursions when deemed appropriate by excursion severity or leadership discretion
  • Provide guidance and training to new incoming team members

 

Support Departmental Quality and Efficiency Performance Goals

  • Demonstrate an understanding of departmental goals with respect to site and company vision and performance
  • Provide direct support to actions within job role and/or departmental projects to enable goal achievement

 
Support and Promote Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Policy 

  • Communicate any problems or concerns to the appropriate individual immediately; ensure proper notification for any event, including “near miss” occurrences
  • Promote a positive culture for safety and environmental programs at MTV by adhering to the safety expectations for your team and by holding other team members accountable
  • Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for all team members by identifying risks to our local environment and escalating in the proper fashion to ensure that they are minimized
  • Ensure all safety and environmental compliance-related work tasks are being completed in accordance to existing requirements (LOTO, audits, training, Job Hazard Analysis, use of proper PPE, evacuation procedures)
  • Comply with all safety and environmental policies, where applicable, and hold other team members accountable when performance gaps exist 

 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Knowledge in semiconductor fabrication engineering or applied knowledge in a data-analysis environment.
    • A good understanding in manufacturing process flows and memory fabrication.
    • Knowledge of Statistics, statistical analysis packages including JMP, SPC’s and Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge in defect detection, reduction and analysis methodologies.
    • Knowledge of semiconductor processing methods.
    • Knowledge of common semiconductor processing defects. Knowledge of defect formation, defect source analysis and characterization.
    • Knowledge of data mining techniques.
    • Knowledge of NAND memory, DRAM memory, and/or NOR memory process flow.
    • Knowledge of and ability to implement troubleshooting methods.

    Hours of work are usually 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

     

    Education/Experience Requirements:

    Degree Required:               BS or equivalent foreign education

    Academic Discipline(s):      Electrical, Electronics, Materials, or Chemical Engineering; or Physics

    Experience Required:         2 year minimum semiconductor experience
