Position Title: Resource Center Manager
Company Name: The National Center for PTSD
Sector: Executive/Management

The National Center for PTSD (https://www.ptsd.va.gov) has an exciting opportunity for a tech-savvy librarian with supervisory experience. We have an immediate opening in our Executive Division (https://www.ptsd.va.gov/about/divisions/executive/index.asp) for the Manager of the National Center for PTSD Resource Center.

The National Center for PTSD (NCPTSD) is a Department of Veterans Affairs (https://www.va.gov/) center of excellence that will soon celebrate its 30 th anniversary. The Resource Center supports researchers and educators across all seven divisions of the NCPTSD as well as clinicians, researchers, and professionals worldwide; and Veterans, family members, students, and other interested members of the public. Key to the work of the Resource Center is the PTSDPubs Database (https://www.ptsd.va.gov/ptsdpubs/search_ptsdpubs.asp), a free online database that indexes the world literature on traumatic stress and its effects. Production of the database is in the process of transitioning to an integrated, flexible system that takes advantage of cloud computing, open source software, and semantic technology that promises to improve workflow and free staff to focus on higher-level content enhancements while expediting the release of new content to the public.

The Resource Center Manager will lead this continued transition, working with a commercial vendor and an on-site staff of two professional librarians and one library assistant. The incumbent will supervise all aspects of database production including discovery and ingest of documents; management of the National Center's custom thesaurus, authority lists, and controlled vocabulary; indexing; and delivery to an external vendor for distribution to the public. The Resource Center Manager will also provide reference services, contribute to the production of the PTSD Research Quarterly and the Clinician's Trauma Update, manage staff, administer the Resource Center's budget, collaborate with the VA Library Network on current awareness services, and perform outreach to internal and external customers.

Located in White River Junction, Vermont, at the heart of the beautiful Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire, the Executive Division of NCPTSD has a longstanding relationship with nearby Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The unsurpassed natural beauty of the area---with ample opportunities for skiing, hiking, mountain biking, ballooning, hunting, fishing, and swimming---is complimented by the world-class artistic, cultural, and intellectual offerings that proximity to Dartmouth College provides. The area is three hours from Boston and Burlington, VT, four hours from Montreal, and six hours from New York City. Train and bus options make visiting these cities simple. A regional airport provides access to locations that are further afield.

The position offers generous benefits and a fast-paced, collegial environment where learning is valued and excellence is demanded.

The official position announcement will soon be posted to USA Jobs (https://www.usajobs.gov/). If you would like to be notified when it is released, please send an email Nancy Staples, Program Specialist at Nancy.Staples@va.gov indicating your interest and we will alert you when the job is posted and applications are being accepted.
