POSITION TITLE: School Psychologist

DEPARTMENT: Equity and Student Support

REPORTS TO: ExecutiveDirector of Equity and Student Support

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE: 210

DATE REVIEWED: 01-2014

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, shall appoint the School Psychologist. The annual period of service shall be 210 days.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assists in the intervention and evaluations process for students experiencing academic and/or behavioral problems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students
  • Demonstrates a competent understanding of a variety of assessment instruments and techniques
  • Provides differential diagnosis in areas of intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities and emotional/behavioral disorders; coordinates state and local standardized testing of students
  • Writes comprehensive psychological reports that adhere to guidelines set forth by local, state and federal agencies
  • Demonstrates appropriate consultative skills in parent, teacher and student conferences
  • Provides casework assessment and services to students and their families
  • Provides in-services for schools and other groups as needs are identified
  • Provides overall leadership and oversight to teachers, principals and specialists and others as needed in planning and utilizing courses of study in the development of improved program and curricula
  • Utilizes assigned technology to maintain required documentation of services rendered
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill; organization and time management

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Specialist degree or equivalent degree hours. Service Certificate S-5; Certified in School Psychology;

EVALUATION: Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
