***Job located in Alta, UT***

Winter Seasonal Dining Room Server.

HOURS PER WEEK: Averages 40.

Wages: $5.15 per hour + tips.

Dates Available:

  • 12/12/19 through April 2020.

CONSIDERATIONS:Will be required to work extended hours during peak times, weekends and holidays as necessary.Position may work out of various Lodge outlets (i.e. Cafe Cashier or folding towels & linens) and rotate through different shifts.Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and able to take directions from a diverse team of leaders and co-workers.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides excellent customer service while providinga fine diningbreakfast and dinnerexperienceto guests of theTop of the Lodge Dining Room.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Setup restaurant according to type of event and service ensuring set standards are being met.
  • Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, recook orders, product availability and guest allergies, dietary needs, and special requests.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of all menu and beverage items.
  • Enter all transactions in POS system at the time of order and ensure all checks are processed accurately (dispensing correct change, processing credit card payments,all gift certificate and gift card functions, room charges, issuing receipts, refunds and resolves amount discrepancies).
  • Answer questions on menu and check-in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each course and beverages.
  • Take food and beverage orders from guests, submit tickets to the kitchen and deliver food and beverages to ensure a pleasant pace for our guest experience.
  • Pick-up trays and clean tables as needed, clean dining area and service station. Store and return all items to proper location.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, salt/pepper containers, silverware, glassware, etc. throughout the day.
  • Complete closing duties, including restocking items,all side work duties, reset for the next meal service,etc.
  • Follow all Lodge safety and security policies and procedures. Report all accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager immediately.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the restaurant at all timesincompliance with standard food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Has a valid Utah food handler's permit within 30 days of employment. Employee is responsible for buying the permit.
  • Has a valid Alcohol Server Certificate for the state of Utah within 30 days of employment. Employee is responsible for buying the permit.
  • Maintain and comply with all UtahOn-Premise Alcohol Program regulations.
  • Support all restaurant staff as necessary to ensure quality expectations are always being met.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous restaurant experience preferred.
  • Ability to present a professional appearance required: well groomed & trimmed hair, clean uniform, no facial piercings.
  • Previous experience working with a POS and cash handling required.
  • Certification in Utah On-Premise Alcohol Program and Food Handlers Permit required.
  • Must be minimum age to serve alcohol required (21 for the state of UT).
  • Positive, outgoing personality along with excellent customer service skills required.
  • Able to use basic math and accuratelytoreconcile a cash register required.
  • Able to problem solve in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision required.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. required.
  • Able to maintain excellent grooming required.

Perks:

  • Ample time to ski. We no longer offer ski passes this season.

We have onsite housing available upon request. The rooms house betweentwo and threepeople.Second season employees who apply in time have first access to the two-person capacity bedrooms.Each room has its own bathroom.

Employees who choose to live on site will pay one hundred thirty-eight-dollars and forty-six cents bi-weekly for room and board which includes:

  • Three meals per day.
  • WIFI access.
  • A ski bus pass.
  • Access to fitness room, hot tub and sauna.

Employees who don't live on site receive the following:

  • Two meals per day worked.
  • bus pass.
  • Access to fitness room, hot tub and sauna.

Things to know:

  • Goldminer's Daughter Lodge is only seventy-five feet away from the nearest ski lift which makes us the ideal ski in ski out lodge for both employees and guests.
  • We have some of the best employee housing in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
  • Our busiest time of year is Mid-February until April first.
  • Bringing cars to Alta is not recommended because of limited parking and the restrictions to vehicles that don't have four-wheel drive and winter tires or chains.
  • This is a shared tip position for Dining front of house employees.
  • The ski buses travel between the Salt Lake Metro Area and Alta from Mid-December until the second weekend in April. Service is every half hour from seven am until six pm and there is a bus stop at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge.
    • The bus ride to the Salt Lake County Light rail system from The GMD is about 45 minutes.

  • Employee housing:
    • For seasonal full-time employees only.
    • Employees are paired with a member of the same-sex (couples or friends may be paired together space permitting).
    • Room & board is automatically deducted bi-weekly and is $138.46 per person.
  • This position requires flexibility with start times and availability to work weekends. There are several rotating shifts, however, the majority of the shifts provide ample ski time.
