The Senior Accountant II, Corporate Tax is responsible for compilation and evaluation of domestic and/or international tax information used in the preparation of municipal, state, and federal tax returns for BOKF and its affiliates, which may include primary and review responsibility for maintenance of tax reporting software and internal and external financial statements. A Senior Accountant II also responsible for timely and accurate income tax accounting and research of the impact of new tax regulations, business activities and transactions.


  1. Controls the preparation of complex tax returns, estimates and extensions, as assigned by management. Evaluates the completeness and accuracy of underlying tax records and information used in tax reporting such as federal and state income tax returns and franchise tax returns, and estimates and projections. Completion of these duties includes running tax preparation software, including training other team members on specific schedules/return attachments necessary to comply with IRS reporting requirements.
  2. Owns primary responsibility for timely and accurate income tax accounting that complies with GAAP and internal policies, including but not limited to:
    • Preparation of effective tax accrual rates
    • Recording of income tax expense / benefits and reconciliation of related asset and liability accounts; documentation of assigned SOX controls
    • Recognition and measurement of deferred tax assets and liabilities, including impairment assessments when necessary
    • Funding of estimated and final tax payments and settlement of intercompany tax accounts among BOKF consolidated entities
    • Preparation of income tax disclosures as required for SEC and regulatory reporting
  3. Researches the impact of changes in federal, state and local laws and regulations related to income taxes. Assists Bank Operations, Accounting Operations, Lines of Business, and other with implementing and maintaining procedures to capture necessary information to prepare federal and state returns on a timely basis. Researches and provides analysis of the tax impact of basic new business activities and proposed transactions.
  4. Assumes overall responsibility for information reporting compliance/consulting including but not limited to: Keeps abreast of changes in tax laws and inform pertinent areas of the organization, assist with the design and implementation of new procedures, and lead special projects as assigned. Coordinates with various operations areas with providing information necessary to respond to federal and state tax notices to achieve tax efficient outcomes.


  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of municipal, state, and federal income tax laws and regulations
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of prevailing GAAP for income tax recognition, ASC 740
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work as a team to meet strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of tax laws and regulations, and related GAAP, to unique and complex business activities and transactions
  • Strong analytical, coping, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent microcomputer application and spreadsheet software skills
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Good supervisory skills

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 30+ hours of accounting courses and 5+ years’ work experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting (tax) environment. CPA certification is required. CPA certification generally requires a Master’s degree with a minimum of 30 hours concentrated in accounting and related studies.
