About the Job
We are seeking an experienced, results-oriented Senior Program Manager to support the definition of complex business programs and to direct and ensure the successful outcome of those programs. In this role the successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams and subject matter experts on highly visibile programs directly related to Akamai’s success. He/she will define scope and success criteria, plan schedules and milestones, drive work efforts and monitor and report on the status of the programs from initiation through delivery. He/she will be expected to engage with members from all levels of the organization ranging from delivery teams through Akamai’s seniors staff. The Senior Program Manager will also help drive best practices within the program management teams.

The Senior Program Manager will report into the Senior Manager, Program Management.

About the Team
The Business Operations and Applied Analytics team manages global systems and processes in support of Akamai’s sales, marketing and finance organizations. Our team’s responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a single source of truth for key performance metrics, providing advanced analytics to inform data-backed decision making, and driving programs and process improvement within the organization. The team partners with key stakeholders and corporate leadership and enables and influences globally distributed decision making.

We are creating a program management office to support and drive these global initiatives. This is an opportunity to join and help build out a best in class program team.


* Follow best practices to drive a portfolio of strategic initiatives from inception through delivery
* Evaluate and help prioritize high-level business problems to identify and execute logical programs and solutions. Work close with Akamai Directors and Vice Presidents to understand priorities, influence decisions, propose solutions and ensure the success of key priorities.
* Support cross-functional teams and subject matter experts, often with representatives from various disciplines, in the establishment, planning, implementation and reporting of multiple projects and/or programs.
* Estimate work efforts for the team and manage resources accordingly. Ensure buy-in on agreed-upon completion dates.
* Define and report on program status, issues and success metrics. Schedule and lead appropriate executive steering committee, governance and working team meetings.
* Document detailed agendas, meeting minutes and action items from key cross-functional meetings.
* Provide training as required to cross-functional team members and other constituents.
* Build network with program and project managers from other organizations to collaborate and share best practices.


Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Computer Science
* Minimum of 8 years of post-collegiate work experience
* Minimum of 5 years of experience with Program / Project Management or equivalent experience; ideally in a cross-functional delivery capability.

Desired Qualifications
* Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies in a divers corporate and client environment.
* Ability to think in terms of overall end-to-end processes; proficient with business processes, operations and metric definition best practices
* Experience with Program Management principles and practices, PMP certification or Big 5 consulting experience preferred
* Proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget while communicating with key senior leaders
* Demonstrated written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) processes
* Independent thinker and problem-solver, with the ability to work directly with diverse business groups
* Detail-oriented and results driven; experience in the high tech industry is a plus
* Knowledge of JIRA and/or other Program Management tools
