Supports the site in procurement of goods and services

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Support the site in the procurement of goods or services.  Essential to this position is the ability to:
  • Manage the competitive bid process.
  • Analyze suppliers.
  • Perform analysis and planning of inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and procurement regulations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the procurement process including:
  • Preparation of quote.
  • Quote analysis.
  • Source and prequalify suppliers.
  • Evaluate material and services.
  • Database maintenance and file management.
  • Invoice issue resolution, and audit support.
  • Requires strong contract and services abilities, technical editing of work scope, understanding of company terms and conditions, and accurate monitoring of changes to purchase orders from award to delivery.
  • Promotes productivity and teamwork with open communication, timely decision making, and use of personal leadership skills to set high standards of performance.*
  • Understands business processes and their financial implication/impact to the Plant and Company.
  • Ensures all Company resources are utilized in a cost effective manner, estimates resource requirements, monitors expenditures, and reports on performance of assigned area.
  • Develop and issue competitive bid packages using RFQ/RFP process and monitor changes, utilizing the AdaptOne web application.
  • Possess the knowledge to negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, delivery, and contract changes with suppliers in accordance with Procurement Policies.  Including changes to labor and construction contracts, charges for termination, restocking, expediting, schedule changes, air freight, and monies due to NRG as a result of warranty claims, faulty material or poor workmanship.
  • Promote cost savings with internal customers through developing an RFP strategy, and proactively providing professional supply chain services (procurement and inventory). 
  • Assist with spare parts management and procurement.
  • Communicates and coordinates activities with vendors, contractors and other departments
  • Responsible for contract administration to modify terms & conditions or specifications as needed, ensure supplier compliance with contract terms and deliverables, purchase orders, FOB, and payment terms. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state tax laws, the Uniform Commercial code, and business/corporate objectives. 
  • Be able to manage multiple conflicting deadlines. 
  • Maintain professional relationships in a team/matrix environment.  Use group process skills to accomplish goals, achieve results and resolve conflict. 
  • Take on additional task or responsibilities as management sees fit and as assigned.
  • Manage and maintain the sites computerized inventory system
  • Coordinate all stock reorders to ensure the quality and the correct specifications of the part or material.
  • Check stock reorders for repairable items and coordinate repairs and shipping with vendor.
  • Oversee month end inventory cycle counts and reporting
  • Purchase and coordinate delivery of stock materials directly with vendors.
  • Arrange and coordinate transportation of outgoing shipments of materials and supplies.
  • Maintain the warehouses to insure material is kept safe, orderly, and clean..
  • Monitor the inventory for material that is obsolete, duplicated, or overstocked to reduce inventory to a minimum but adequate level.

  
Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment and/or power plant environment.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
  • Requires occasional travel outside service area.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety  glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.) in designated areas
  • Requires operation of a personal computer

 
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain or Procurement in an industrial setting preferably a regulated utility or IPP environment setting, or; High school diploma and a minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in Supply Chain or Procurement in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and associated software applications. Has the understanding of our business software systems and their interfaces. 
  • Must be proficient in Word and Excel.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess the working knowledge and experience in SAP CMMS; utilizing the applications for purchasing and analysis processes, Adapt One, and PowerSam.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
