Job Description

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Under limited supervision and under written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services. Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts. Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs). Conducts safety checks on vehicles. Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Assists other technicians in the completion of project work. Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. This position as a service technician/mechanic to include but not limited to: Inspect, repair, or overhaul buses, trucks, RV’s and anything else with a diesel and/or gas engine. Follow a checklist of inspection procedures, test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions, read and interpret diagnostic test results, often by using dials, gauges, and other computer equipment, raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists, inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles, do routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and parts, adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components, repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment, disassemble and reassemble equipment and parts, test drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly.

Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Equipment/Vehicles Used - Operates and uses a variety of equipment and tools. Drives company and customer vehicles for test drives.

Must have valid California Drivers License.

Physical/Environmental Conditions

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around work place, handling, reaching and detecting objects and equipment, reaching for objects and equipment while simultaneously assisting, balancing, positioning lifting, moving equipment and repair supplies.

· The employee is occasionally required to remain in a stationary position, depending on type of repair and work being completed.

· The employee must frequently move, transport, position, install, lift or remove items or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance; occasionally moves, transports, positions, installs, lifts raises or removes items or equipment weighing 50-100 lbs. with assistance and over 100 lbs with assistance, using equipment or with another person’s assistance.

· Work is performed in a variety of conditions, indoors and outdoors (heat, humidity, rain, cold, etc). Work performed infrequently at heights, around electrical, slippery surfaces, and hazardous chemicals and materials.

· Occasionally high level of noise that necessitates ear protection.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of Higher Secondary Education Certificate preferred.

Preferred Skills

Understands basic hand tools. Have basic mechanical ability. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good public relations and customer service skills. Ability and willingness to work in a team environment. Commitment to occupational health and safety, especially safe work practices in a mechanical workshop.

Additional Notes

Ensure that customers vehicles are kept clean.

Keep shop area clean and be able to account for company owned tools which you have used at all times, returning safe after use.

Understand and follow Federal, State and Local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Comply with data integrity and security policies. Continue growth by attending training classes.
