Make a real impact on patient care and efficiency as a Flow Coordinator working with Aquent Talent at a leading healthcare system. Partnering with physicians and residents, you’ll play a crucial role in streamlining patient flow, enhancing the patient experience, and optimizing the efficiency of the emergency department. Responsibilities:
- Accompany physicians during patient examinations, meticulously recording patient history, physical exam findings, and physician-directed details of the visit into the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Research and document patient medical history, including nurse’s notes, EMS reports, and prior hospital records.
- E-sign the EMR after physician review and signature, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
- Proactively monitor patient status, informing physicians of test results, critical values, and any delays in care.
- Act as a patient advocate, addressing patient needs and concerns, and ensuring their comfort throughout their visit.
- Facilitate communication between physicians and other medical staff, relaying non-medical messages and requests.
- Assist with patient discharge processes, preparing discharge instructions and specialist referrals as directed by the physician.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three years of overall experience, preferably as a medical scribe in an emergency department, EMT/Paramedic, or within a healthcare educational program.
- Strong medical terminology knowledge and understanding of medical thought processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and spelling proficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of electronic medical record systems, preferably EPIC.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $29.42 to $32.69 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
