Job Summary:
The Quality Project Engineer is responsible to lead major Nampa plant quality projects. Initially the role is focused on supporting the new Nampa expansion and confirming the facility maintains all food quality and food safety standards during and post construction.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
* Lead the food safety and quality risk mitigation associated with the Nampa building expansions. This includes construction and design along with the following key initiatives:
o Drive quality principles during the qualification process of new lines, processing extensions, or other new equipment to ensure mitigation of all food safety and quality risks and promote sanitary design
o Partners with the Sanitation Manager for all CIP qualification/validations for new equipment and new production lines
* Develop, support, and implement quality continuous improvement projects
* Drive continuous improvement in quality programs and employees through data collection and trending, training/coaching, teamwork, and the use of problem-solving skills to create new quality opportunities, systems, and programs
o Data mining and analytical analysis
* Apply quality engineering principles to collect, analyze and interpret data to make quality evaluations through the application of continuous improvement methods
* Drive and/or assist cross-functional teams in root cause analysis (RCA) activities for the implementation of corrective and preventative actions
* Assist with other departments such as Research and Development, Engineering, and Production for development of new products and ensure that transfer to production is in accordance with approved data
* All other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION
* Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 8 years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment is required
* HACCP and GFSI Certification is required
* Sanitary Design certification strongly preferred
* 6 sigma Green Belt required (Black Belt preferred)
SKILLS
* Highly organized with strong time management skills
* Analytical problem solver
* Works well on cross-functional teams and facilitates open dialogue
* Able to create and comfortably deliver training in small and large group settings
* Strong customer service skills
* Ability to communicate proficiently in English verbally and in writing (including email)
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
* Must be able lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
* Must be able to work 8-12 hours per day and stand or sit for extended periods of time
* Must be able to work off shifts
* Bending, twisting, and stooping
* Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
* Some travel for training and auditing purposes may be required
