Chesapeake Public Library (CPL) is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Law Librarian to lead our legal information services and support civic literacy in the community. This position develops, maintains, and provides access to legal reference materials and resources for the public, incarcerated individuals, legal professionals, and city departments. The Law Librarian also provides supervisory support within the Reference Department and assists with the Library's Small Business Hub by guiding entrepreneurs on legal topics. This is a professional position requiring strong public service, instructional, and research skills.

Typical Duties:

• Maintains and develops the Law Library's print and electronic collections.
• Provides legal reference and research assistance to library patrons and incarcerated individuals; does NOT offer legal advice.
• Develops and conducts programs on legal topics, including legal literacy and access to justice.
• Maintains access to legal databases and provides public instruction on their use.
• Builds partnerships with local legal organizations, courts, law schools, and community groups.
• Promotes Law Library resources and services through outreach and public engagement.
• Supervises assigned reference staff and contributes to team development and training.
• Supports the Small Business Hub by delivering workshops on business law basics and compliance.
• Compiles and reports usage data and metrics on Law Library and Small Business Hub activities.
