40Summary:
The primary role of the Athletic Trainer (ATC) is to work in the role of a physician extender. The Athletic Trainer will be to increase the availability and patient volume for Cook Children's Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. The ATC will accomplish this by working closely with the physician as an extender in clinic to provide timely and appropriate care to our active patient population. The Athletic Trainer will provide patient in the outpatient clinic setting under the direct supervision of a physician. This role is responsible for obtaining patient histories, obtaining and ordering ancillary studies or rehab, DME fitting, cast and splint application, creation and education of home exercise programs, and concussion testing.
Education and Experience:
Required BA or BS from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
Preferred - Masters of Science from a CAATE accredited athletic training education program
Minimum 2 years working as an ATC with children, adolescents and young adults.
Preferred experience working in an outpatient clinic, providing direct patient care.
Experience with EPIC or similar EMR.
Excellent Interpersonal, organization, and customer service skills, especially the ability to show compassion for patients coming from all walks of life.
Bi-lingual preferred.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification:
Texas athletic training licensure
Certification by BOC - Accredited certification program for athletic trainer.
Current BLS certification.
