As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within Costco’s organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team’s strategic vision and plan as well as ensuring that your team’s actions align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division.

The Manager of the Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) team and the Security Orchestration, Automation, and Remediation (SOAR) team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of security engineers and analysts, focusing on performance and deliverables. You will be part of a dynamic team supporting Global Cybersecurity Operations. This role delivers SIEM and SOAR capabilities and functionality, directly supporting all teams in Information Security as well as other customers.

ROLE

MEMBER SERVICE: Provides and ensures staff provides an exceptional member experience.

ADMINISTRATION: Ensures proper department coverage (writing schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget, able to research and explain budget variances.

MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coaches and mentors’ employees to provide support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations with employees to discuss work performance and career development. Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge, skill and ability.

COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.

SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates sound judgement, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation or in intense, hectic situations.

INCLUSION: Encourages different approaches and ideas to work and to accomplish goals. Seeks employee input. Takes the time to get to know or reach out to candidates who show potential that may not come forward on their own.

COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY: Takes measures to ensure employee and member information is kept confidential and adheres to IS security policy.

● Nurtures excellent relationship with Cybersecurity Operations and will operate On-Call as needed.

● Develops relationships with neighboring team managers along with the desire to work together.

● Manages people at all levels.

● Supports employees as they develop and realize their professional goals.

● Maintains integration between Security Operations Center, Incident Response/Hunt, Cyber Intelligence, and additional sibling teams in Information Security and Information technology.

● This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).

REQUIRED

● Minimum of 5 years of experience in SIEM and SOAR Engineering, expert in Splunk, Sentinel, Google SecOps.

● Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate issues to executives, end users, and stakeholders in an effective, timely, and appropriate manner.

● Previous leadership experience (minimum of 2 years); team building, conflict resolution and personnel development skills, as well as demonstrated success leading teams in a challenging environment.

● Ability to quickly assess and prioritize security requests that will provide value.

● Experience maintaining cost plans to ensure milestones, resources, and budgets are managed effectively.

● Experience creating and managing department budgets.

● Experience with contract negotiations, managing scope of work processes, and purchase order requests

● Demonstrates competency in SIEM and SOAR engineering, concepts and ability to apply them, and how to relate these to Costco’s technology stack.

● Ability to establish and foster a positive working environment.

● Self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented with excellent work ethic.

● Experience developing and managing a diverse team with various levels of technical expertise.

● Leadership Development 101 (within one year)

Recommended

● Able to adjust levels of communication to target audience - discuss nuanced technical information, risks/controls with any level of employee from intern to senior business leadership.

● Excellent risk-aware professional judgment.

● Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Range: $137,000 - $200,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
