Juniata College invites applications for a Lead Counselor to direct the operations of Glaeser Counseling Services. This is a pivotal opportunity for a compassionate, equity-minded, and clinically experienced professional to lead a dedicated team providing inclusive, evidence-based mental health care in a vibrant liberal arts environment.

We welcome candidates seeking 10-, 10.5-, 11-, or 12-month appointments. The position offers a starting salary of $55,000 (12-month equivalent), with the final compensation prorated by appointment length and commensurate with experience.

About the Role

The Lead Counselor is responsible for the clinical and administrative leadership of Glaeser Counseling Services. This role sets the tone for our mental health programming and drives meaningful campus-wide collaboration to support student success and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a diverse team of counselors and graduate interns

  • Oversee clinical services, case consultation, and treatment planning

  • Coordinate crisis response and postvention protocols

  • Develop and revise center policies in line with best practices and legal guidelines

  • Manage electronic health records and quality assurance

  • Foster campus-wide mental health initiatives and cross-departmental collaboration

  • Provide direct clinical services (individual, group, and crisis counseling)

  • Lead efforts in outreach, training, and community education

  • Advance inclusive practices that center equity, identity, and belonging

  • Support grant-funded wellness programming and strategic planning

  • Serve as the central voice for mental health communication to students, families, faculty, and staff


Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in clinical/counseling psychology or a related field

  • Active Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

  • 5–7 years of professional counseling experience

  • Demonstrated experience working with college-aged populations

  • Background check clearance

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience in a clinical or campus-based setting

  • Experience in residential liberal arts education

  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and student development

  • Familiarity with EHR platforms and data-informed decision-making

  • Collaborative, transparent, and strategic leadership style
