King County Parks is excited to announce we are seeking an Electrician II to join the Crafts Crew with the Operations Team! In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to apply your journey level expertise to the maintenance and enhancement of King County parks and facilities. Your contributions will play a vital part in ensuring our parks remain welcoming and well-kept for all visitors.


About the Role:

We are excited to add this newly created position to our Parks Crafts Crew! Reporting to the Craft Crew Supervisor III, this role will oversee the maintenance, repair, and construction of Parks-specific electrical infrastructure, including field and security lighting, historic building systems, aquatic facilities, HVAC components, and sewer/septic systems. 


The Electrician II will supervise electricians and other skilled staff, ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient work across our parks and facilities. Key responsibilities include project planning, cost estimating, tracking labor and materials, coordinating with internal teams and contractors, and managing work orders through the Parks system (LUCITY). This role will also support equity-focused initiatives and collaborate with the Capital Improvement Team on park enhancements and upgrades.


About the Team:

The Operations Team is made up of approximately 180 full-time staff and over 100 temporary employees, all supporting a wide range of services that provide meaningful experiences at every level of the organization. Within this team is the Crafts Crew comprised of skilled professionals with expertise in plumbing, carpentry, irrigation, electrical work, and painting. Their dedication ensures our parks and facilities are well-maintained, safe, functional, and welcoming for all who visit.

Job Duties

What You Will Be Doing

  • Supervise and Lead Electrical Teams: Oversee electricians and skilled workers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, including field lighting and other infrastructure; ensure safety compliance and effective personnel management.
  • Project Planning and Coordination: Plan, schedule, and coordinate projects by estimating costs, ordering materials and equipment, and managing timelines and resources to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Work Order and Records Management: Utilize and monitor the LUCITY work order system; maintain detailed records of personnel, vendors, buildings, and project progress, including tracking labor and material costs.
  • Technical Oversight and Problem Solving: Review plans and specifications, troubleshoot complex electrical and lighting systems, and ensure compliance with standards through collaboration with internal departments and external contractors.
  • Customer Service and Support: Provide responsive service to internal and external stakeholders and perform hands-on electrical work as needed to support operational needs.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Qualifications You Bring

  • Achieved Washington State Journey Electrician certificate or equivalent per RCW 19.28.191. In Washington State, journey level is defined as follows: 
    1. 4+ years of work experience as an electrician.
    2. At least half (4,000 hours) of the electrician's experience has been commercial or industrial.
    3. Electrician has completed at least 96 hours of classroom training, typically through a registered apprenticeship.
  • Experience supervising and/or leading electrical teams.   
  • Experience providing technical oversight and problem solving. 
  • Experience in project planning and coordination.
  • Experience providing customer service and support.
  • Experience using computer systems to manage work orders and records (King County Parks uses LUCITY, Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel).


Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks including bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, and twisting on a regular basis.


Workplace Exposures:

This position requires the ability to work inside/outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, inclement weather while at various heights and/or within confined spaces, at all Parks facilities and other adverse conditions such as high-volume noise, dust and heavy traffic.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Washington State Driver's License
  • Washington State General Journeyman 01 License and the ability to maintain the license throughout employment per RCW 19.28.191


It Would Be Great if You Also Bring:

  • 4+ years' experience working with electrical equipment and their functions to include but not limited to lighting, motors, pumps, gas systems, generators, panel interfaces, fans, heating & cooling.
  • 4+ years of experience in applying safety practices for electrical voltages (0-1000), mechanical and environmental hazards (i.e. chemical, gasses and confined spaces), and in applying federal, Washington State and local electrical codes.
  • Skill and knowledge in:
    1. Installing complete electrical systems.
    2. Using electrical tools, materials, and power tools.
    3. Reading and writing technical text.
    4. Reading and interpreting electrical instruments, test equipment, blueprints, and schematic drawings.
    5. Repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
    6. Following the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
    7. Utilizing oral and written communication.

Supplemental Information

Work LocationEmployees in this role work onsite at various locations throughout King County with the primary reporting relocation being the Central Maintenance Facility in Renton.


Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. The regular schedule for this role is Monday - Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM.


Union Representation: This position is represented by Joint Crafts Council, Local 46 Electricians.
