Position summary:

Responsible for maintaining electrical systems project wide including in operating wellfields, the processing facility and in offices and ancillary buildings. Also responsible for field connection of powerlines to wellfield transformers and motor-control-centers to allow for operation of new production areas. Work specified and performed will conform with specifications and requirements for building and safety code regulations in the State of Wyoming.

Essential functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, electrical cabinets, equipment, and fixtures, using various electrical industrial approved testing devices while maintaining the safety of all systems. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Connection of header houses and wellfield components (e.g., instrumentation, MCCs, low voltage, PLC Panels).
  • Wiring and connection of operational and plant systems (e.g., instrumentation, MCCs, low voltage, PLC panels).
  • Install high voltage underground and underground systems.
  • Minimal programming PLC’s, DCS, VFD’s systems as it relates to electrical maintenance and installations.
  • Trouble shooting instruments as it relates to electrical connections.
  • Communicate electrical project needs and safety requirements to supervisors and coworkers.
  • Specify and recommend purchase of electrical project materials.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Off-hours call-outs to Shirley Basin.

Education and Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Experience in Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and minimal experience on PLC, DCS systems, and VFD instrumentation.
  • Journeyman Electrician or greater. Employee must maintain their current license/identification for continued employment.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people.
  • Proficient in the use of a Personal Computer (PC) as it relates to procurement, installation and maintenance of previously described systems.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with vendors in the specification and ordering of materials.

The employee must be knowledgeable about and follow the Company's safety policies and procedures as well as comply with construction and maintenance codes as they apply to electric work being performed.

The physical demand and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; speak, see and hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and energized electrical components with risk of electrical shock; and may be required to wear a respirator.  There is the potential that the employee will be exposed to low-level radiation.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
