What You'll Do<\/h2>- Report to the Manager of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering in Architecture, Engineering and Construction.<\/li>
- Participate in and at times lead master planning, capital planning, and design management activities for various projects and programs. Collaborate with U-M stakeholders to oversee primary voltage loop, substation, secondary power, photovoltaic, EV charging, lighting and control, fire alarm, emergency responder radio coverage, lightning protection, security, and other electrical systems, both at the building and the regional levels. Refine, enhance, and participate in analysis and long-term planning of campus infrastructure, applying energy conservation and carbon neutrality initiatives.<\/li>
- Provide design management for renovation projects of existing campus buildings and infrastructure. You will develop and manage project scope, schedule, and budget. Project studies or designs may be self-performed or by a third-party consultant. You may be asked to function as the discipline or project lead.<\/li>
- Provide drawing and specification documentation for electrical systems for self-performed studies or designs. Layout equipment and systems, perform engineering calculations, and select equipment and devices with support from engineers or the Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Manager. Write standards and technical specifications. Coordinate the design with all disciplines and other U-M partners.<\/li>
- Manage consultant activities to ensure completion of the project requirements, including the scope, schedule, and budget goals for studies or designs by third-party consultants. Develop Request for Proposals and review payment invoices.<\/li>
- Perform field surveys in electrical, mechanical, and other building spaces to document existing electrical systems and to understand building interferences. You will assess condition and performance of systems and components. Develop recommendations for alterations to buildings and infrastructure based on the findings of field surveys and evaluations.<\/li>
- Present and review designs with appropriate agencies to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. You will review and stamp construction documents to be submitted to the State of Michigan Bureau of Fire Safety.<\/li>
- Coordinate anticipated construction activities with stakeholders. Evaluate contract bids and make recommendations on contract awards.<\/li>
- Administer RFIs and construction bulletins for design revisions. You will review and process shop drawings, help resolve construction issues, and monitor commissioning activities.<\/li>
- Review and recommend energy conservation measures.<\/li>
- Interview, recommend selection of, train, and evaluate engineering support staff.<\/li><\/ul>

Skills You Have<\/h2>- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.<\/li>

- Experience with planning, organizing, and overseeing design professionals, such as engineers, architects, designers, and drafters, to provide construction documents and construction administration on capital projects.<\/li>
- Considerable knowledge of life cycle analysis, value engineering, energy analysis and sustainable design, and work load management.<\/li>
- Considerable knowledge of the Michigan Electrical Code, National Fire Alarm Code, ASHRAE 90.1, and other related building codes.<\/li><\/ul>

General Purpose<\/b><\/h2>

Responsible for directing the safe and reliable operation of electric transmission, substation, and distribution systems. Manages the operations of electric transmission and distribution assets 24\/7 for a geographic territory or functional unit that has a significant impact on corporate, business unit, or organizational objectives. - Manage, oversee and direct sub-transmission and\/or distribution, outage field work, or field technical support functions for Systems Operations.<\/li>
- Manage, audit, and enforce regulatory requirements such as NERC and WECC standards.<\/li>
- Review, approve, and oversee complex switching processes, reporting, and other operational functions.<\/li>
- Manage transmission and\/or distribution system performance.<\/li>
- Respond to system outage conditions that may be complex in nature involving substations, transmission lines, distribution lines and underground networks.<\/li>
- Direct large and unique outage restoration efforts. <\/li>
- Administer the application of the EMS\/SCADA system and tools to System Operator work.<\/li>

Job Summary<\/b><\/p>
Provides support for the AVANGRID Energy Control Systems used to operate electric transmission and distribution systems (EMS\/SCADA\/ADMS\/ OMS & Back office based platforms).<\/p>
<\/p>
Key Responsibilities<\/b><\/p> Defines and maintains supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) databases and definitions, maintains telemetry data and evaluates and maintains accurate information in the EMS<\/p><\/li><\/ul> Support the specification, design, testing and development of the EMS system to ensure that changing functional requirements are met<\/p><\/li><\/ul> Design enhancements to the ECS systems to improve the user interfaces<\/p><\/li><\/ul> Coordinate the safe and orderly commissioning of new and redesigned intelligent electronic devices and instrumentation as well as other systems and components in substations and other interconnecting facilities.<\/p><\/li><\/ul> Monitors and ensures that systems and components are designed, installed, tested, operated and maintained according to operational requirements and standards for safety and reliability<\/p><\/li><\/ul> Documents commissioning procedures, provides operational assistance and troubleshooting<\/p><\/li><\/ul> Analyzes key power system data to ensure that the bulk electric system can operate in a safe, reliable and coordinated manner in accordance with ISO\/RTO operating principles and standards.<\/p><\/li><\/ul> Works within the Control Center environment and supports Cyber Security requirements for Control Center operations. Maintains and creates documentation for supported platforms and systems to meet all regulatory requirements\/ standards.<\/p><\/li><\/ul> <\/p> Required Qualifications<\/b><\/p> Education and Experience Requirements: Meet at least one of the following:<\/b><\/p> 5-10+ years of technically related experience<\/p><\/li> Applied Science degree (Engineering preferred)<\/p><\/li> 7+ years of technical experience<\/p><\/li> BS Degree with 5+ years of technical experience<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul> General Knowledge & Skills:<\/b><\/p> Knowledge of Electrical Theory and understanding of the Electric Transmission and Distribution, T&D Power flow, short circuit analysis<\/p><\/li> Experience with configuring, commissioning and testing Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)<\/p><\/li> Field testing methodology, develop testing plans<\/p><\/li> Ability to interpret engineering documentation: Control System Architecture drawings, P&IDs, electric control\/loop diagrams and other engineering specifications.<\/p><\/li> Understanding of relevant Compliance Regulations and Policies. JOB SUMMARY<\/b>:
This position is responsible for participating in the development, implementation, and ongoing support of a best-in-class asset assessment model for all AVANGRID physical assets. This role will provide data analysis and subject matter expertise to the organization including health and risk assessments of the population of assets as well as supporting repair or replace asset strategies. <\/p>
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining various criteria, standards, and process documents (e.g. \u201cBrownfield\u201d needs and solutions replacement strategy, etc.) which will aid in the execution of transmission, distribution and substation analysis for pre-conceptual\/conceptual engineering activities and comprehensive needs and solutions assessments. This role is expected to be Planning\u2019s \u201cgo-to\u201d resource when it comes to health assessments of our fleet of physical assets in support of project development. <\/p>
Specific responsibilities include participating in AVANGRID efforts to:
\u2022 Develop, implement, and continuously improve best-in-class asset assessment program.
\u2022 Assess, recommend, and implement organizational process and resource changes and make use of latest technology to improve efficiencies.
\u2022 Actively collaborate with other companies and industry peers (e.g. CEAITI, AMI, NATF, etc.) to ensure appropriate continual improvement and benchmarking.
\u2022 Influence positive regulatory outcomes by preparing, high quality asset management strategies and policies that drive prudent decision making and reliability improvements.
\u2022 Develop and build collaborative relationships with internal business areas (e.g. Operations, Maintenance, etc.) as well as external stakeholders (e.g. regulators and ISO\u2019s) by providing subject matter expertise as well as thoughtful, prudent, and well documented support for AVANGRID\u2019s asset management practices.
\u2022 Develop and implement methods to objectively monitor health, risk, performance and rates of deterioration or improvement of AVANGRID\u2019s physical asset base.
\u2022 Develop subject matter expert skills as necessary to mentor and support the team to aid in the advancement of business needs.<\/p>

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering. An advanced education such as an MBA and \/ or a Professional Engineering License is a plus. <\/b><\/p>
Five years of related experience in transmission, substation and\/or distribution planning, design, operations, condition assessment, asset management or maintenance. <\/b><\/p>
Candidates with broad skills that include utility asset management (e.g. ISO 55000, Institute of Asset Management, etc.) along with Operations, Maintenance, and or Engineering design expertise are strongly preferred.<\/b><\/p>
