What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks Software Engineer in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

  • Design, develop and maintain Go CLI application for delivering software tools to Barclays developer devices.

  • Design, develop and maintain backend API services for integration with CLI components, written in Go and Java, deployed in Redhat OpenShift – environment.

  • Design, develop and maintain automated pipelines to standardize the ingestion and packaging of developer tooling related to major languages, cloud and modern application

  • development.

  • Create and manage GitLab/Jenkins CICD pipelines for building, testing, scanning and deploying of developed applications.

  • Containerize IDE license server components for efficient deployment and management in Redhat OpenShift environment.

  • Develop IDE extension/plugin internal marketplace for controlled and secure availability to Barclays developers.

  • Participate collaboratively in team peer reviews of code and design.

  • Participate in team knowledge sharing and presentations.

  • Hands-on implementation of changes; from creating solution and writing code; to delivering release into production.

  • Producing clean, efficient, maintainable and testable code based on specification, using test-driven development to write top quality and well tested code.

  • Proactively identify solutions to improve developer productivity with applications and automation solutions delivered.

  • Work through problems with team, be ready to roll up sleeves, have an opinion and push through engineering specific roadmap items.

  • Collaborate and work with internal stakeholders and other CTO leads to provide best experience for technologists and developers across the organization.

  • May telecommute.

Minimum Salary: $160,000 per year

Maximum Salary: $175,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any another type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

This position is eligible for an incentive award.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
